The Anigen Rapid Giardia Ag Test Kit is a chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Giardia antigen in canine or feline feces.
[Clinical Sign & Prevalence]
- Giardia is a diarrhea causing parasitic protozoa found in the small intestine of dogs and cats.
- This pathogen lives attached to the epithelial microvilli of the small intestine and reproduces by binary fission. It is estimated that 5% of the cat and dog population of the world is infected.
- Young puppies tend to be highly infected especially in group breeding. No specific signs in adult dogs and cats, but puppies and kittens could be showing watery or foamy diarrhea with a bad smell.This is due to malabsorption within the intestine.
- This can result in High mortality due to severe acute or continuous diarrhea.
- In addition to young animals, those that are stressed, immunosuppressed, or housed in groups have the greatest prevalence of clinical disease.

- Collect the samples from canine or feline feces using the swab.
- Insert the swab into the specimen tube containing 1ml of assay diluent.
- Mix the swab samples with the assay diluent to extract well.
- Remove the test device from the foil pouches, and place it on a flat and dry surface.
- Using the disposable dropper provided, take the samples from extracted and mixed specimens in the tube.
- Add four (4) drops into the sample hole using the disposable dropper. The mixed assay diluent should be added exactly, slowly drop by drop.
- As the test begins to work, you will see purple color move across the result window in the center of the test device. If the migration has not appeared after 1 minute, add one more drop of the mixed assay diluent to the sample well.
- Interpret test results at 5 ~ 10 minutes. Do not interpret after 20 minutes.
[Result judgment]
-Positive (+): The presence of both “C” line and zone “T” line, no matter T line is clear or vague.
-Negative (-): Only clear C line appear. No T line.

3. Try not to touch the white film surface in the center of the detection card;
4. Sample dropper cannot be mixed, so as to avoid cross contamination;
5. Do not use sample diluent that is not supplied with this reagent;
6. After the use of detection card should be regarded as microbial dangerous goods processing;
[Application limitations]
This product is an immunological diagnostic kit and is only used to provide qualitative test results for clinical detection of pet diseases. If there is any doubt about the test results, please use other diagnostic methods (such as PCR, pathogen isolation test, etc.) to make further analysis and diagnosis of the detected samples. Consult your local veterinarian for pathological analysis.
